Microsoft Office is by far the most popular productivity suite available on any computing platform. It is the de facto standard for shared documents, and is now available on virtually any device you may choose to use, including:

  • PC and Apple computers (of all types)
  • Windows Phone and Windows Tablet
  • Apple IOS devices (iPhone, iPad)
  • Android devices (phone and tablet)

Microsoft has done a good job of designing each version of Office to suit each platform, but there are quirks that you need to know about to ensure that your device is supported.

The key information that you need to check is listed below –

PC: Office 2013 versions of Word, Excel, PowerPoint, OneNote, Outlook, Publisher, and Access. Windows 7 or later required.
Mac: Office 2016 versions of Word, Excel, PowerPoint, and Outlook. Office 2016 for Mac requires Mac OS X 10.10 or later. Office for Mac 2011 requires Mac OS X 10.6 or later.
Windows tablet: Office 2013 versions of Word, Excel, PowerPoint, OneNote, Outlook, Publisher, and Access. Windows 8 or higher required. Office Mobile applications (Word, Excel, PowerPoint, and OneNote) require Windows 10.
iOS: Office for iPad® requires iOS 7.0 or higher, Office for iPhone® can be installed on phones running iOS 6.0 or higher.

Android: Office for Android™ can be installed on tablets and phones that meet the following criteria: running Android KitKat 4.4 or later version, and have an ARM-based or Intel x86 processor.

If your device  is supported you can deploy and use Microsoft Office on it, and seamlessly share and synchronise your files across each of your devices. It’s important to remember that Microsoft Office 365 is available in a number of different configurations and plans and that the platform needs to be configured correctly to suit your business systems and needs.
